The Waterbury Button Museum
The museum has a collection of 10,000 buttons in their permanent exhibit from the Waterbury Button Company more than 50 years ago.
There are buttons from all over the world with many 18th and 19th century examples. There are buttons worn by George Washington in the collection. There are buttons that were on display at the 1878 Paris Exposition, there are picture buttons, buttons made of Czechoslovakian glass, Japanese enamel, ivory, wood, china, pears and jewels along with a huge array of other types.
Coming Home: Building Community in a Changing World
This 6000 square foot permanent history exhibit gives the visitors a true "you-were-there" experience regarding the history of the Waterbury region.
This exhibit tells the story of industrialization in Connecticut and the people of the region. Here you will meet people from the past and listen to them tell their stories. Not only is this the story of the past but also the story of our future.
American Masters Display
In the permanent art galleries you will be able to trace the development of American art in the portraits by John Turmbull and William Jennys. There are landscapes by John Kensett and George Inness and still life’s by Charles Ethan Porter and Emil Carlson.
The styles on display shift from realism to impressionism to surrealism, from abstract expressionism to assemblage in art by the artists Peter Poskas, Guy Wiggins, Kay Sage, Alexander Calder, Cleve Gray and Abe Ajay among others.
The Mattatuck Museum was establishes in 1877. It was accredited by the American Association of Museum s in 1976, one of the first in the state of meet that standard.

Tuesday - Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Sundays 12 noon - 5:00 p.m.
